The Perfect Christmas Pudding

This is the dessert that screams 'we wish you a Merry Christmas'.

Whether making for you and your family or as a gift the perfect Christmas pudding is always a hit. Our recipe is more than delicious and may see you licking the plate for the all the crumbs.

  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of self raising flour
  • 1 cup of white bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon all spice
  • 1 kg mixed dried fruit
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ tablespoons of plum jam
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup boiling water


Rub butter through the brown sugar, then add all other dry ingredients except baking soda and mix well. Beat eggs and add to dry ingredients with the jam and mix through. Add boiling water to baking soda and add to mixture, mix together until well combined. Pack mixture into the MasterPro Pudding Steamer. Put the tin into a large saucepan, add boiling water to the saucepan to surround the pudding tin, fill ¾ the height of the pudding tin. Boil for 4-5 hours, topping up with water as needed. Allow to stand for 15 minutes, then tip out and serve with brandy custard.

Alcohol tip: You can soak your dried fruits overnight in alcohol (preferably brandy, rum or sherry) if you like. Once the cake is baked brush down the cake with the same alcohol once a week and cover in cling wrap.

Gluten Free Tip: Change the self raising flour and bread crumbs to your gluten free alternative and cook the same.
